Yea, what the thread says on the tin!

I'm still using Notepad++, but have been turned onto Sublime Text, too.

Oh, WinDirStat is a must-have.

I don't have any favorite programs in that wheelhouse, I think. I used CCleaner way back in the day.

That brings back memories. I used to use this as one of dozens of Portable Apps on a flash drive back when 2GB was a massive expense. That one was called SequioaView. I can tell some anecdotes from the times I used those for troubleshooting at college computer labs.

The most fun was probably finding out that all of the newly-installed engineering lab computers were very slow to boot after we installed them. Investigation showed they seemed to be only using 1 of 4 cores, without hyperthreading. Research proved it, and using a hack batch file from a video game forum we modified the HAL.dll file that defined computer hardware. The Dell master image had been made on a Pentium 4 test machine, with hyperthreading and a single core. Not so good installed on an early i5 with 4 cores and no hyperthreading. But we fixed it! And for the next semester we ensured the master image was updated.

Favorite programs:

Terminal:
Wordgrinder for low-distraction writing
YT-DLP Youtube Downloader for archiving and processing Youtube videos
RSync for moving files nicely
2048 in terminal

Cross platform:
RawTherapee (Non adobe RAW photo editor, similar to Lightroom or DarkTable). Because fuck Adobe, and yay photos.
LibreOffice. Edit PDF with Draw, do all the Office things mostly well
Virtual Box Virtual Machines with windows ISOs to emulate 100% OG Microsoft ™ Excel ®
Gnu Image Editing Programimage photo editor program, adobe-free Photoshop or editing program
Resynthesizer Plugins (Non AI smart fill, smart heal)

Hugin panorama panorama stitching for when you want a hemispherical photo and just have a regular camera. Or something.

Yay, LibreOffice! I've been having fun with Impress, as I've been putting together some presentations. I haven't used Presentation in years, so there has been little friction when it came to MS Office muscle memory.

Another one I want to mention is Inkscape: https://inkscape.org/ . Used it for so long I can't recall the last time I used Illustrator.
